Zero trust is a security model where trust is never assumed based on network location or prior access alone. The practical benefit is that a compromise in one area does not automatically open the rest of the environment.

Encryption is reversible with the right key, while hashing is a one-way transformation used to verify integrity or store secrets safely in limited contexts. I would use encryption for confidentiality and hashing for checksums, password storage, or tamper detection. A good answer also distinguishes hashing from signing when authenticity matters.

I would correlate endpoint telemetry, authentication logs, network activity, and process lineage to understand what the process did and how it started. Then I would determine scope, containment needs, and whether there are signs of broader compromise. SOC work is about fast triage that leads into reliable containment and remediation.

I would tune detection logic, suppress duplicates, enrich alerts with context, and prioritize based on real risk and severity. Then I would measure which alerts lead to action and remove or improve the low-value ones. The key is to make alerts actionable instead of overwhelming the team.

I would look at security logs, system logs, application logs, and any endpoint-specific telemetry available in the environment. The exact events depend on the scenario, but the goal is to reconstruct activity, authentication, process creation, and policy changes. Good investigators know how to use logs to build a timeline.
