I would compare current traffic against baselines and look for unusual request rates, geography shifts, fingerprint changes, or patterns that suggest automation. Then I would enrich those signals with context so I can tell the difference between real users and abuse. Detection is strongest when it combines scale, context, and fast feedback.

I would look at login patterns, device signals, token use, and any changes to settings or permissions after the suspicious access. Then I would contain the account, trace the activity timeline, and check whether the attacker moved to other systems. The important part is to confirm both the compromise and its scope.

I would treat every request as untrusted until it is verified, regardless of where it comes from. That means enforcing identity, device posture, and policy checks consistently rather than assuming internal traffic is safe. Zero trust works best when policy follows the request everywhere.

I would isolate tenants, enforce authorization carefully, rate limit abusive behavior, and log enough activity to trace issues later. I would also make sure customer data cannot leak across boundaries, because multi-tenant mistakes are high impact. A strong API design assumes that misuse will happen and plans for it.
