I would start with the content hierarchy, then choose a layout system that adapts cleanly across breakpoints. I would use flexible grids, sensible spacing tokens, and components that can collapse or reflow without losing usability.

A controlled component gets its value from React state, while an uncontrolled component keeps its own internal DOM state. Controlled components are easier to validate and synchronize, while uncontrolled ones can be simpler for basic forms or integration with legacy code.

I would first identify the source of the re-render with profiling tools, then reduce prop churn, memoize where it actually helps, and split large components into smaller pieces. I would also avoid overusing state and keep derived values derived instead of stored.
